About Howard Zahn

Sir Knight Howard Edward Zahn passed on to his eternal reward on February 21, 2018 at the age of 76. He was born in Kenosha, WI on December 4, 1941, to Erna and Henry Zahn.

Howard earned a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering from Purdue University and a Master's in Engineering Management from George Washington University. He retired as a Navy Commander and retired from IBM.

Howard was a faithful member of St. Michael the Archangel Catholic Church in Cary and was a 3rd and 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. He was also an extraordinary volunteer, especially supporting the LAMB Foundation and Dorcas Thrift Shop. Howard received numerous awards and honors for his exemplary dedication and countless service hours including Knight of the Year. Despite his advanced age and failing health, he always remained extremely cheerful and active. Howard was usually the first to volunteer for whatever service project or fundraiser was on the calendar. Howard was a man of great faith and humility. He exemplified the principles of Charity, Unity, Fraternity, and Patriotism.

Howard was a devoted husband to his wife, Judith, and children James, Michael and Jennifer.

In honor of his enduring dedication and service to the LAMB Foundation, Council 6650 has named our Annual Children's Charity Golf Classic in his name.
